Tapetail Presents:
JUTTED TIME
Brandon Auger, Eric Heep
Cassia Streb, Tim Feeney
Sunday, Nov 8th, 2026, 8pm
Sound artist Brandon Auger performs a proximity-based listening event that challenges traditional perceptions of composition, in an ongoing examination of coffee-cup-sized debris, grappling with cohesion while harbouring a desire to self-destruct.
Cassia Streb and Tim Feeney join to nibble around the edges of these sounds and gestures, adding residue assembled from little bits of stone and metal, and recordings of the atmosphere left behind once a sequence of similar sounds has passed through a different location at a different time.
Eric Heep begins playing fragments of the sounds that were heard earlier in the performance; during this time it becomes known that he was secretly recording everyone’s sounds and they’re now being presented in a new context. Eventually, the past catches up to the present when Cassia,Tim, and Brandon play with Eric’s memories and form a quartet that’s jutted out of time.
About the Artists
Brandon Auger is an artist, improviser, and structural builder based in Nova Scotia, Canada. His practice is grounded in an attention to amplification and vibrational nuance, situating sound as a spatial, tactile, and relational event. Through these investigations, he constructs shared spaces in which listeners are invited to explore the dynamic intersections of sound, materiality, and embodied presence.
Eric Heep is an artist based in Santa Fe, NM. His work involves bricks, custom electronics, creating coding, and experimental and procedural sound. His recent work focuses on volumetric light, haze, and big, big sounds.
Cassia Streb and Tim Feeney are LA-based sound artists exploring instrumental and found sound, tape recorders, door frames, window panes, rainstorms, pine cones, concrete floors, and children’s cartoons. They have collaborated to create sound projects for High Desert Soundings in Wonder Valley, Sound Symposium in St. John’s Newfoundland, the Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Cruz, and other special places and unique circumstances.
Tapetail is Automata’s new experimental sound series, launched in October 2022.
Tapetail presents live events and sound installations featuring the work of experimental sound artists.
We are currently looking to present shows and installations that deal with "liveness" where something about the experience is best presented live, whether through improvisation, special acoustic treatment or audience experience. There’s been a lot of great art happening in the virtual and digital world so now we’re turning our focus back towards bringing people together for sound experiences that are best experienced in a live setting.
Automata’s Tapetail series
