LEFT BLANK:
A Literary Performance with Performance Objects
Saturday, May 2, 4pm

AUTOMATA  is excited to welcome members of the CalArts Creative Writing MFA Program as they present LEFT BLANK: The Blue Showcase, a literary meditation on the color/concept/form of blue.  Engaging in a lineage of writers, artists, and theory prodded by the likes of Maggie Nelson, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Wassily Kandinsky, writers and interdisciplinary artists Muriel Leung, Jade E WelshMicaela Gerson, and Bella Niforatos offer a space for folks to explore their relationship to blue through meditations on blue and the creation of a performance object.

Part literary reading, part workshop, LEFT BLANK: The Blue Showcase is a community-centered series offered by CalArts MFA students as a space to witness, play, and connect, free of charge. Attendees can expect to witness four performances by the featured readers as well as engage in a workshop component where each attendee will have the opportunity to create a blue performance object.  All materials will be provided by Left Blank.

CalArts is an experimental space where the emphasis is on playing, exploring, and pushing at the edges of form.

This event is free and open to the public.  No advance reservations needed.
 Light refreshments will be served.
